Heckart Funeral Home announces today that Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home is now part of Heckart Funeral Home. The purchase includes all business records and pre-arranged funeral plans in place with Ewings since its beginning in 1935.Ewing Funeral Home was founded by Duane and Beulah Ewing and for the last many years has been owned by various out-of-state corporations. All Ewing business and records will be relocated with Heckart Funeral Home and the building will be repurposed by the former owner.Heckart Funeral Home has been family owned since it began as Gillespie Funeral Home in 1918, becoming Heckart-Gillespie in 1948 when Del and Stella Heckart made their home in Sedalia and assumed full ownership. Their daughter Sue, joined the business and has been a fixture in the Sedalia community for decades.
